By the time your child reaches school age, your child will probably:
- Have a clearer understanding of what is real and what is pretend
- Enjoy making creative art
- Have a rich imagination and enjoy pretend play
- Enjoy learning a musical instrument
Your child can now have the ability to imagine elaborate situations and invent all sorts of amazing creations! You will probably notice that your child retreats more and more into the world of imagination. Encourage your child's imagination through story-telling and by providing imaginative toys. Time spent playing dress-up and performing puppet plays helps your child to learn to solve problems through creative thinking.
Open-ended play will help kids to be creative. Your child won’t be able to resist being creative if you give them the chance.Your child is also more likely to develop their imagination if you place a limit on screen time. For kids aged five to eight, it’s recommended that they have no more than two hours of screen time per day.
