Our thoughts and prayers are with a group of 11 people who were reportedly struck by lightning in Paris, France this afternoon.

According to early reports, 10 children and one adult were left requiring ‘urgent’ medical treatment for burns and other injuries, after the ordeal.

The 11 were said to be attending a birthday party in a local park, Parc Monceau, when a storm took a nasty turn. The group are said to have sought shelter under a tree, but were ‘thrown’ into the air after being struck.

Reports from French media outlets claim that six of the children – all aged between seven and 14 – have suffered serious injuries.

A medical unit was set up immediately to treat the victims on the scene, with ambulances arriving to rush them to hospital.

The news comes just hours after France’s meteorological service issued Orange Alerts in relation to a storm in the city – the second-highest warning level that can be declared.

We are thinking of all those injured in the incident, and their families, and we pray that they will make full recoveries.

SHARE to gather well wishes for the group.
