When you bring a child into the world, you swear to do everything make them happy, and one mum in China has gone to extremes to bring this to fruition.

A woman has touched hearts all over the world after it emerged that she has donated her uterus to her own daughter, who was born without one of her own.

Yang Hua, 22, only found out about her condition two years ago, after an ultrasound confirmed that she was missing the vital reproductive organ.

With Yang and her husband desperate to have their own child, doctors proposed only one viable solution: a womb transplant.

A rare and complex surgery, anyone facing into the procedure would be understandably nervous, but Yang was overjoyed when her 43-year-old mother agreed to be her donor.

The ethics committee of Xijing Hospital agreed to carry out the procedure, with a medical team going on to freeze the couple’s embryos for future implantation.

The transplant, which lasted 14 hours, was carried out on Friday, 20 November, and both Yang and her mother are said to be recovering well.

The procedure has made history in China, for being the very first of its kind in the country.

We wish Yang and her family all the best going forward.
