Every week we are hearing shocking reports about the treatment of mums, particularly those who are breastfeeding their children in public, but thank heavens there are people there to stand up against it.

Kristen Hilderman’s story has gone viral after she recounted on social media the shocking treatment she received while breastfeeding her five-month-old son on a United Airlines flight from Houston to Vancouver.

Taking to Twitter to share the ordeal, she explained how an air host named Keith approached her and her husband, engaged only her husband in conversation, and then threw a blanket at them to cover up.

“[He] said to my husband (loudly, so that everyone around could hear), “Are you two together?” My husband replied, “Yes…”, and then the flight attendant tossed a blanket at him (didn’t even hand it TO him, but tossed it AT him and said tersely, “Then HERE, help her out”', wrote Kristen.

Needless to say, not only was Kristen mortified and horrified by her treatment, but so were other passengers.

Indeed, she adds that a male passenger could be heard saying: “He wants you to cover up. That is so offensive. I have a seven-month-old baby and if that happened…I would be so offended.”

Since her post went viral, Kristen has revealed that a member of the airline has been in touch to apologise for her “frustrating experience” and has promised to follow up.

We can’t get over her treatment. What are your thoughts?
