We never fail to be surprised and shocked by the stories that make headlines around the world, but the following has to be one of the most disturbing reports we have ever come across.

Police in Melbourne, Australia have launched an investigation amid reports that a man has been ‘stalking’ pregnant women at a shopping centre in the city.

It was mum-to-be Jennifer Price who first spoke up about her own disturbing ordeal, on a closed Facebook group, recalling how a strange man watched her closely as she shopped in Westfield Southland Shopping Centre.

Local news site Gold 104.3 quotes Jennifer as saying: “Suddenly, out of the next aisle I was in, he came out and approached me carefully and said, ‘Excuse me’, leaning in closely. I asked for more staff to come as, at this point, I was so scared because of his demeanour; it was scary and deviant.”

No sooner had Jennifer shared her warning post, however, than other mums and mums-to-be came forward with eerily similar accounts dating as far back as February.

One woman claimed that a man – thought to be the subject of the original post – cornered her and began kissing her baby bump and asking for photos of it. Another mum, meanwhile, revealed that a man approached her in the same store and grabbed her son, before assuring her that he was only making sure the child didn’t run off.

With the posts attracting attention all over the internet, it has been confirmed that police in the area are now investigating the disturbing incidents.

Take care out there, mums.
