The Guinness World Record for most breast milk donated has been broken by Alyse Ogletree, a mum from Denton, in North Texas.

Alyse set the new record by donating 1570 litres of breast milk to the Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas. Her record donation was over three times the previous record.

Alyse discovered her ability to overproduce milk four years ago when she gave birth to her first child. The amount of milk produced each day averaged nearly four litres.

Instead of wasting it, she decided to donate the milk to the milk bank, which uses the milk to feed premature babies.

Milk banks can be vital in providing breast milk to premature babies, as mothers who give birth prematurely can often have trouble producing milk themselves.

The previous holder of the record was Amelia Boomker from Illinois, who donated 470 litres of breast milk to a milk bank.
