With the safety of cyclists on our roads becoming the backbone of many road safety campaigns recently, it’s clear that more needs to be done for those who choose to cycle.

Many of us have children who choose to cycle to school, and while we encourage them for the sake of exercise, it is a source of worry for many parents.

That’s why we were excited when we heard about the latest in cycling technology, a product called the Lumos Helmet.

The wireless smart helmet has lights on the back that sync with your bike, to signal to other road users whether you are breaking or about to turn.

The rechargeable helmet detects when the bike is slowing down, signalling you are about to break, as well as a remote mounted on the handlebars to let you manually signal for a right or left turn.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the company raised enough funds to proceed with the helmet which is now available to the public.

But this new technology doesn't come cheap, with the Lumos Helmet retailing at £135.49.
