At least 17 schools across the UK have been evacuated following a number of bomb threats from anonymous callers.
According to reports, one threatened that “the shrapnel will take children’s heads off”.
Students were sent home from Canterbury Academy - 240 during their GCSE exams - quickly followed by Barming Primary School in Maidstone.
Talking to Express, the head teacher of Canterbury Academy said that they had received three phones calls from an anonymous caller “stating that there was an explosive device on the school grounds.”
"It’s almost certainly a hoax – but with what’s happening across Europe I am not prepared to take a gamble.”
According to the Mirror, the following schools have all been affected by the threats:
- Barming Primary School, Maidstone
- Blacon High School, Cheshire
- Canterbury Academy, Kent
- Charleville Primary School, Middlesex
- Cranmere Primary School, Surrey
- Crabtree Farm Primary School, Nottingham
- Discover Primary School, Peterborough
- Emsworth Primary School, Hampshire
- Kingsham Primary School, Chichester
- Lindisfarne Middle School, Northumberland
- Mayfield Primary School, Cambridge
- Oulder Hill School, Rochdale
- Redwood School, Rochdale
- Rosebrook Primary School, Stockton
- Voyager Academy, Peterborough
- Wootton Upper School, Bedfordshire
- Whiteley Primary School, Fareham

Thankfully, nobody was hurt and many schools will reopen tomorrow.
