While having sex is (obviously) a hugely important factor when trying to conceive, it's actually not the only thing that you can do.

There are many factors that can impact how quickly you get pregnant as soon as you start trying, and some are simple as changing the underwear your other half tends to wear.

However, while the following will help you get pregnant, it is important to bear in mind that sometimes certain issues and complications are out of your control and you may need to talk to your doctor if you are struggling for a long time.

1. Know your cycle

You only have about a limited window in which to get pregnant and your most fertile time is during ovulation. For a lot of women, they can experience slight cramping and will have a white discharge during this time but if you are unsure you can always buy an ovulation kit. If you have been on the pill for a long time it may take a few months before you know your exact natural cycle.

2. Say goodbye to stress

Easier said than done, but it is important you try to reduce the amount of stress in your life. Exercise, acupuncture and cutting back on activities can help you lead a more relaxing life – and remember, don’t stress about getting pregnant as this will only be a hindrance.

3. Maintain a healthy weight

It is so important that you maintain a good, healthy weight as it plays a huge factor in how long it will take you to get pregnant.

4. Get your man some loose boxers

For optimum fertility a man’s testicles needs to be cooler than their body so they should avoid tight boxers or working with their laptop on their lap.

5. Have lots of sex

While this is fairly obvious, many couples only do the deed when they are ovulating. However, while it is important to do it at a particular time, many women miscalculate their most fertile dates and can miss their window.

6. Place a pillow under your pelvis

Lying in the missionary position can help gravity do it's thing and placing a pillow under your pelvis during the deed can help you, particularly if you have a tilted uterus.

7. Get up some sun

While we don't mean go out and let yourself burn, you should up your daily sunshine vitamin intake as it can help prevent depression, which can have an impact on your ability to get pregnant.
