There is nothing worse than hitting the 40 week mark and still no sign of baby. But, before you burst into tears - which we’re pretty sure is what you want to do right now - have a read of these eight ways to naturally induce labour.

They may or may not work, but they are pretty fun in any case.

Walk
Walking is great for hurrying baby along. Pop on your runners and hit the streets. Not only will gravity play a part in encouraging baby out, the movement will help them get into the correct position for labour.

Raspberry tea
Raspberry tea is actually quite nice and on the plus side it can stimulate the womb which might hurry baby along.  This should only be drunk with the approval of your doctor though.

Go up and down the stairs
Climbing the stairs will keep you fit and healthy and, like walking, help the baby to fall into the correct position. This is not only due to gravity, but also the movement of lifting your legs.

Blow up some balloons
A little unusual, the pressure of blowing up a balloon has been said to be able to get baby moving.

Stop looking at the clock
Stop looking at the clock. Remember the saying a watched kettle never boils.

Have a dance
If you can still get up and move around comfortably, have a dance. Pop on your favourite songs and get the rest of the family involved. All this helps the baby to drop and get things moving along.

Have a warm bath
Treat yourself to a warm bath and relax. If you are feeling uptight or stressed out you may, in fact, be preventing yourself from going into labour.

Watch a sad movie
If all else fails, put on your favourite sad movie and have a good cry. These will make you feel so much better, even if there is still no sign of baby.

You should never try to induce labour before the 40 weeks and, after that, only with the guidance of your doctor or midwife.
