When the Cluett family became stranded in the Scottish Highlands they felt like they would never make it home.
Luckily, they were rescued in the most magical way, by the Hogwarts Express steam train.
During a canoe ride near the shore of Loch Eilt, Helen and Jon Cluett and their children were left stranded when a swollen river swept their boat away.
The three-mile walk back to their car was the last thing the family could handle, especially due to the boggy surfaces. Walking alongside a railway line was out of the question because it was far too dangerous, especially with small children
The family had no choice but to call the police to figure out a plan of action. Rather than walking through the boglands, the police suggested that they wait for a very special mode of transport.
Thanks to the officer’s efforts, the family were treated to a ride on the steam train that has been used in the Harry Potter movies.
The parents and their four children, aged between six and 12, were overjoyed to see the famous train pull up to save them.
The police arranged for the train to make an unscheduled stop to help the family in their time of need.
Father Jon Cluett expressed his delight, he told BBC about the experience, "The amazing thing was it wasn't just any train. The next train that was passing was the Jacobite steam train - the Harry Potter, Hogwarts Express steam train that goes up and down that line."
He shared that the family quickly gathered up their belongings and dashed to the train line, “We threw all our stuff into some bags and boxes and ran out of the door of the bothy at the same time as the train is coming around the tracks.”
The Jacobite train crosses the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct which many Harry Potter fans will know from the movies.
He laughed as he spoke about running for the train, "The train is getting closer, we're running down, stuff bouncing everywhere, big smiles on the kid’s faces.”
They hopped off the train at Lochailort, where Mr Cluett hitched a ride to collect his car.
He praised the people who rescued them, “"The kids have certainly had an adventure. We've all had an adventure - big thanks to everyone who helped us."
The family may have lost their boat, but they will never forget their magical trip.
