Children in Liverpool were left heartbroken last weekend as Santa was simply TOO busy to visit with them.

The grotto, which was set up at The Shankley Hotel, has been described as a "shambles" by parents who have taken to social media to express their outrage.

All of the families who were turned away had pre-booked slots to meet with Santa, some having queued for almost three hours.

One user posted about her "disappointment" for her two young children turning up at the hotel and having their slot "cancelled".

“Just a total disgrace, words can't express my anger,” she wrote.

Another commented that they were waiting two hours in the freezing cold, only to find Santa sitting in a "joke of a shed".

Signature Living, the event organiser told the Liverpool Echo a number of events which took place across the city caused delays which in turn caused people to arrive late which impacted on the schedule of events.

The events company has stated they intend to make amends to all affected at the weekend.

“Everyone affected will be invited back for an extra special experience in the coming days. Meanwhile, given the popularity of the grotto, we’ve today launched our search for Mrs. Claus to help Santa and his elves to make sure they welcome everyone before the big day.”

Further to this another disappointed family arrived to the hotel yesterday only to be told the grotto was closed.
