Ella Clarke was rushed to hospital at 36 weeks pregnant when she started to bleed.

After being told her baby was fine, Ella underwent her sixth Caesarean section but there were some complications.

She lost six litres of blood due to a complication common in women who have had multiple C-sections.

Her baby, Winter Rose was born a healthy baby but Ella woke six days later after being told she was in a coma to find her legs had been amputated.

She was forced to have an emergency hysterectomy and five blood transfusions just to keep her alive.

After inducing coma, Ella was monitored round the clock because she was prone to blood clotting.

A clot later developed in her legs stopped circulation and led doctors to the decision to amputate.

"I expected my beautiful little baby girl to be passed to me. I had no idea I’d been in a coma," she told The Mirror.

“Instead I was told doctors had amputated my legs. At the time I was in a haze of medication.

“But the reality started to hit home when Winter Rose was placed in my arms and my restricted future flashed before me.”

Ella has now filed a law suit against the hospital who have sines apologised to the mum.

"I was a normal mum for 13 years. That’s been snatched away from me," she said.

South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are now carrying out a full investigation into the decisions made.
