Parents of premature babies will know how stressful and intense neo-natal ICUs can be.
Being at hospital with a tiny premature baby is a worrying time.
So imagine the delight of the parents at Saint Luke's hospital, in Kansas, when Cupid paid a special visit to their tiny tots.
Each baby in the unit received hand-knitted hats with hearts.
The parents received special Valentine’s cards with their baby’s footprints on them, along with professional photos taken by volunteers.
These kind-hearted volunteers were once parents of premature babies themselves.
"It was astonishing the way they take time out of their lives to knit a hat or make those Valentine’s with his footprints in the shape of a heart," Dad Kyle Wilkinson, father to baby Jake, told ABC News.
"We don’t know these people at all. Using their time to make our time more comforting was really eye-opening."
Wife Katie echoes his sentiments, saying it makes them feel like they’re not alone.
"They do a great job of making you feel like this is normal," said Katie. "A lot of families go through this, more than we know."
