When growing up, lots of girls can plan having babies with their best friends, but Alicia Renna and Nicole Shaw have actually gone and done it.

Not once, but twice.

The girls have been best friends since meeting in kindergarten in Boston.

Despite moving to different states as adults, they have remained fast friends. So when Alicia found out that she was pregnant, she couldn't wait to tell Nicole.

Little did Alicia know that Nicole was also 10 weeks pregnant.

Speaking to Popsugar, Alicia recalled the phone conversation where she told Nicole the good news:

"I won't forget that phone call," she said. "I was driving home from work when she told me. I was so excited when she told me her due date, which was the same due date as me, that I had to pull over. I started crying with excitement!"

As their pregnancies developed, the girls continued to support and encourage each other. This bond was essential in keeping them sane in what Nicole describes as "the longest week of our lives," when both went a week over their due date.

Both women were induced a day apart, Alicia in Massachusetts and Nicole in New Hampshire. While it was unlikely that babies would be born on the same day, the two women gave birth just five hours apart. Alicia says that they were texting throughout the labours:

"I remember texting her during labour being like, 'I can't believe this is happening!' At one point she texted me [a picture of] her baby girl Charlotte and I remember saying congrats and then my doctor said, 'It's time to start pushing!' About five hours later, I got to finally show her AJ!"

An amazing coincidence that will definitely lead to a lasting bond between both the mothers and children.

"AJ and Charlotte are always going to be friends, they don't have a choice!" Alicia jokes.

Throughout the early days of parenthood, they had each others backs, ringing and texting each other during the late night feeds.

"I really think having her to fall back on during those first few weeks is what kept me sane," Nicole says.

As if it could get any better, the pair discovered that they were both expecting again in September.

Alicia had had a miscarriage over the summer, and Nicole has been there for her the entire time:

"She was my first friend I told when I was pregnant and my first phone call when I lost the baby."

So when Nicole called to tell her that she was expecting again, Alicia revealed that she suspected that she was too. But she was too scared to take a test:

"I insisted she take a test while I was on the phone with her, and sure enough it was positive!" Nicole says. "We were in hysterics thinking it was the funniest thing."

Doctors confirmed that the women were again expecting on the same day, and you couldn't have planned this:

"We both laughed so hard talking about how we couldn't have planned this if we tried, which we 100 percent did not plan at all!" said Nicole.

"That's how I knew everything truly happens for a reason!" Alicia added.

We can't wait to see if the second round of bestie babies end up with the same birthday again!
