Finding out that you’re going to have a baby is pretty ‘explosive’ news in itself, but Jon and Ashley Sterkel have taken things up a notch with their gender reveal.
The parents-to-be have made headlines around the world, after shooting an exploding target to reveal that they’re having a son.
As you will see in the video posted to Facebook, however, the effect was a little greater than expected – and it did not go down well with locals and police.
Indeed, after the massive explosion was set off, sending plumes of blue smoke into the air; Jon got a visit from the local sheriff!
The Ohama, Nebraska native was shocked to hear that he had just broken a law by setting off an explosive without the required state permit.
Jon was subsequently issued with a ticket, and he is now facing into possible jail time of one year, or a fine of $1,000.
The dad-to-be went on to issue an apology on social media, writing: “I would like to apologise for all of the confusion. This was just our way of announcing what gender our baby was.”
