Weddings are emotional days at the best of times.

And bride Shyanne Norwood took that to another level when she did something heartfelt and thoughtful for her groom.

The man in question, Nick, sadly lost his adopted mum Dorothy two years ago and he was heartbroken that she would not be part of his big day.

So his beautiful bride decided to see what she could do to help that.

She set up where the groom sees the bride in her wedding dress for the first time to be at a special place.

Unknown to Nick, it was going to be in front of his mum's grave.

Shyanne had gone to great lengths to keep it a surprise as Nick was taken on back roads and detours while wearing a blindfold.

The 26-year-old said, ''as my eyes started to focus, I had a big smile on my face as I examined my fiancée and gave her a big hug and kiss.''

''During these few seconds of our first look, I figured we were in just some random field somewhere. I was just so focused on my fiancée at the time.''

Nick was overwhelmed with emotion at the special gift.

''All I could think about is how I wished my mum could be a part of it somehow. I would think about how happy she would be seeing me marry the love of my life. It felt like emotions I was dealing with initially after her death were all coming back full circle.''

To honour such an amazing woman, Shyanne made sure references to Dorothy were included in the ceremony.

The pastor read from Dorothy’s bible and their wedding rings were tied to his mum’s bookmark.

Nick gushes, ''it was like a part of my mum was there bearing the rings that conjoined our lives together.''

What a magical day, that they will remember forever.
