A British family have been involved in a serious car crash on a motorway while on holiday in France, which left a father and two children dead.
The mother and another child have been airlifted to hospital in Lyon.
The accident happened around 7.30am on the A39 near Beaurepaire-en-Bresse.
The family were on their way from Dijon to Bourg-en-Bresse when the tragedy occurred.
The mother and child are said to be in critical condition.
Reports say that the family car veered to the right before going through a barrier and crashing into the wall of a bridge overhead.
The cause has not been confirmed as of yet but it has been suggested by many media outlets that the father feel asleep at the wheel.
Evidence says weather and road conditions were good and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
In a statement from local police, they shared their sympathies with the family:
"The thoughts of the local police and firefighters who intervened at the scene are with the children of four and ten years old and their father, 31, who will never see another spring."
