Crafting with the kids – sounds great right? They’re getting creative, sharing, colouring quietly, and sticking things with other things, and all the while we’re looking on with pride at our talented offspring.
OK, that fantasy was fantastic – now let’s talk reality.
Screams of “Mum, he took my MARKERS!” and the cream-painted wall being destroyed in paint and glue is more like it.
So when we saw this “Crafting with Kids: Fantasy vs. Reality” video by MyLifeSuckers, we felt like we were looking at ourselves.
The first half show how a crafting session who go in a perfect world, and the second half shows what really happens.
And it seems we’re not the only ones who can relate.
“Every time, LOL,” said one commenter. “This made my day. My hubby keeps asking why I don’t do more craft with the kids... I will have to show him this. It all ends in tears... usually mine.”
And another mum sympathised with the struggle: “I still live in that naive Nirvana of First Time Mommyhood, in which I believe doing crafts with my little will not be disastrous,” she wrote. “I somehow convince myself I just did it wrong when it all falls to pieces, Hahahah!!! Always glad to see that this is just the glory of taming a wild beast into a human.”
