From baby showers for your man to ultrasound parties, every year there seems to be a new trend that expectant mums try to get on top of. And while most of them are, thankfully, just a passing fad that only lasts a few months, we’re sure the latest trend is one that is going to stick around for quite some time.

We all know that capturing the perfect bump shot is a must-have to remember your nine month journey, but this new trend takes the traditional shot up a notch. Creating castings of your bump, professional photographer, Jocelyn Conway of Photojos Photography, then takes a photo of your newborn baby snuggled into the ‘bump bowl’ once he or she is born.

The award-winning portrait photographer specialises in newborn, children and family portraits, and has become the UK’s first professional photographer and trained life caster to produce maternity body casts and then photograph the baby curled up inside it.

Jocelyn launched this brand new and unique service this spring after training with the UK’s top body sculpture artist Ken Clarke, and is thrilled to find that women in great numbers are taking up the opportunity to capture their pregnancy in this unique way, and fuelling the latest trend.

Jocelyn, also known as the ‘Celebrity Baby Whisperer’ due to being the preferred family photographer of Coleen and Wayne Rooney and her involvement in the Baby Whisperer Academy which trains photographers in the art of newborn photography, said: “A baby bump bowl casting is a unique and special way to capture and tie in a woman’s pregnancy and their baby’s birth. It’s also a way of getting stunning newborn photos of a baby which incorporate a very personal photo prop – their mummy’s tummy! It’s never been done before and is an exciting extension of my business which I’m finding that my clients love.”

The mum-of-five has been a professional photographer since 2007, after a 21 year long career in midwifery.
