During pregnancy our bodies change so much, and there’s something about the words ‘stretch marks’ that tends to make us shudder! When we actually stop and think about it though, why should we be afraid of stretch marks? They are like badges of honour, proudly displaying what our bodies have achieved.

This message has been sent loud and clear to reality star Chanelle Hayes, who turned to her social media followers this week, looking for advice on how to get rid of her own ‘tiger stripes’.

Chanelle, who is expecting her second child, posted a photo of her burgeoning baby bump, with the caption: “Not amused with this new discovery. Never got these with Blakes [her son, Blakely].

“Although I am about 15 stone heavier now [laughing face]. Stretch mark tips, anybody?”

While many followers responded with tips about cocoa butter, Bio Oil and coconut oil; a number of followers had some very different advice to share – they want Chanelle to embrace her marks with pride.

“Enjoy the, show them off – they are glitter stripes to new beginnings and unconditional love,” wrote one fellow mum. Isn’t that the most gorgeous take on stretch marks? We absolutely love it!

Many others chimed in with equally encouraging and inspiring comments.

“I wouldn’t worry about them. I’m proper proud of my tiger stripes,” wrote another mother.

And even for those who are not as loved-up with their tiger stripes, these marks are still symbolic of something so much more important.

“If you’re gonna get them, you’re gonna get them. I just learned to leave them. Think of them as signs your baby is growing and your body’s doing good…Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy [sic],” read another comment.

We love these comments – the perfect mix of practical advice as well as positive and loving encouragement. This is why we call it the ‘community of motherhood’!

Chanelle, who first hit our screens on Big Brother, announced her pregnancy back in March. The 29-year-old confirmed that she is expecting a ‘miracle baby’ with her partner, Ryan Oates.

Chanelle is, of course, already mum to six-year-old Blakely, her son with ex-boyfriend Matthew Bates.
