Dad-to-be, Harry Ashby, from Birmingham in the UK has become the first man to ever need time off work due to morning sickness.

The 29-year-old security guard is thought to be suffering from Couvade Syndrome, which sees him unwillingly mimicking his pregnant girlfriend’s pregnancy symptoms.

The symptoms began two months after his fiancée, Charlotte, found out she was pregnant. Since then Harry has been suffering morning sickness, food cravings, back pain and has gained half a stone in weight.

Speaking about his unusual cravings, Harry said: “I’d ring asking Charlotte what she was having for lunch. She’d say salt and vinegar crisps, and I’d be eating them at the same time – I normally hate them.”

Harry now says he can sympathise with not only his fiancée, but the Duchess of Cambridge too: “My morning sickness had prevented me going to work. I can imagine how the Duchess feels about missing her royal duties.”

Charlotte however, isn’t so keen on her husband’s sympathy pregnancy: “I do get a bit tired of having to look after Harry when he should be looking after me. It proves women are tougher than blokes when it comes to pregnancy.”
