While we may aim to end our child's day with a a bedtime reading session, things don't always go to plan, do they?

This modern-day development is, however, something which Ronald McDonald House Charity hopes to remedy with the launch of their interactive charity book today.

The organisation, which provides free 'home away from home' accommodation to enable families to be close to their sick child in hospital, hopes that the release of the book will encourage parents to spend quality reading-time with their child while simultaneously raising awareness of the charity's aims.

Supporting the book, Patch the Night Light, which features favourites from 80s television shows is dad and former England footballer, Matt Le Tisser, who said he was 'humbled' to to read one of the 10 local books to children in the Charity’s Southampton House prior to the national launch.

Urging parents to avail of the fantastic new reading material, Matt said: “I hope other families download this new interactive book – I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of it! Please donate if you can and help the Charity support families with seriously ill children in hospitals across the UK.”

Commenting on the three-month campaign, Marketing and Communications Manager for Ronald McDonald House Charities, Lauren Gotlieb, says she hopes the launch will have the desired effect.

“We have watched this campaign grow over the last two months as increasing numbers of people have heard about it and leant their support. The encouragement we have had from local people has been amazing and we hope for a similar level of interest in this national book.”

Outlining the motivation for the launch, Lauren says: “We hope children have enjoyed our stories so far and that it has encouraged more mums and dads to read them a bedtime story, an act that is even more precious if their child is ill in hospital.”
