When travelling with kids, even just one child, you can’t simply throw some clothes into a bag and hope the weather is sunny. It takes a lot more prepping and you will need to spend a little time organising yourself – gone are the days of throwing a backpack over your shoulder.

Toiletries
If your little one is still in nappies, you will have to stock a good few into your suitcase. Depending on your destination, nappies can be costly so it is better to bring what you have already.  Also, you might struggle to get ones to fit your child. The same goes if your little one is wearing night-time pull ups and swim nappies. If your child is prone to wetting the bed but are too old for pull ups, pop a bed protector into your bag – this will save you an awful lot of hassle in the long run.

Comforters
Unless you want to spend a good portion of your trip looking for a teddy to replace your little one’s favourite bedtime toy, don’t forget to put your child’s one into your case. And while you are doing that, throw in a number of toys that will keep them entertained for the duration of the holiday such as colouring books, stories and travel-sized games.

First aid kit
An essential when travelling with kids, make sure you don’t leave home without a first aid kit. You don’t need to buy one especially in the pharmacy, a simple box with the following is enough: antiseptic cream, plasters, cotton wool, insect spray, antibacterial hand gel and a scissors.

Travel comforters
A neck pillow is great for taking with you when travelling. Simply pop it on your child and whether you are on a plane, train, boat or in the car, they will be able to fall asleep a lot easier. A blanket is also a good idea to bring, especially if you are flying as it can get pretty chilly.
