Frozen fans all over the world are putting out a plea to Disney – give Elsa a girlfriend.
Yep, fans say they finally want a lesbian heroine, and are even campaigning on Twitter with the trending hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend.
The campaign kicked off with an open letter by 17-year old MTV contributor Alexis Isabel Moncada, and rapidly picked up steam.
“I want young girls to understand that a princess can love another princess,” Alexis wrote.
“The entertainment industry has given us girls who have fallen in love with beasts, ogres who fall for humans, and even grown women who love bees,” she wrote. “But we’ve never been able to see the purity in a queer relationship.”
Fans are hoping Disney hears their pleas and will give Elsa a girlfriend in the upcoming sequel Frozen 2. They want kids to know from a young age that being gay is okay, and believe a gay Elsa will go a huge way towards achieving this.
Where do you stand on this mums? Do you think it’s time that Disney represented other sexualities? Or do you think it’s unnecessary? We’d love to hear your opinion on this.
#GiveElsaAGirlfriend because little girls watching should know you can be a princess and love another princess

Love is an open door. That door should be open to everyone, not just straight people. #GiveElsaAGirlfriend @Disney @DisneyPixar
