A mother has become a viral internet sensation this week after sharing an emotionally-charged open letter to Prime Minister David Cameron.

Angela Kerrigan took to Facebook to voice her frustrations and concerns for her children’s future after watching Cameron debate the UK’s bombing of Syria.

Sharing a photo of her almost-three-year-old daughter to the social media site, Angela wrote: “I’m sitting tonight watching you debate the prospect of bombing Syria. You claim that it is to protect every man, woman and child in this country from extremists. I’d just like to correct you, you are an extremist. What she needs, is [to be] protected from you.”

In a post that has been shared over 11,000 times on the social networking site, Angela went on to express her sadness over what the UK’s monumental decision will mean for innocent civilians in Syria.

Dear David Cameron,This is my beautiful daughter, she is almost three years old. Im sitting tonight watching you...

“My heart tonight is with the parents and grandparents in Syria who are waiting to see if the actions of my country are going to destroy their lives, their homes, their existence,” she added.

Hitting another personal note as she ended her open letter, Angela wrote: “What you have done is guaranteed that my daughter, Erin Rose, will grow up to see the new generation of extremists you will have created with your military action. Its history repeating itself. It’s a never ending war.”

It’s clear to see that Angela’s post has struck a nerve with many fellow parents across the UK, judging from the likes, shares and comments it has received.
