A glam mama put on a full face of makeup during labour, only pausing for the most severe contractions.

New York mum and make-up artist Alaha Majid made sure she looked like a beauty queen for those post-birth pics, even making sure to include fluttery false lashes.

She posted the candid pictures which were taken from her hospital bed on her Instagram page, makeupbyalaha after the birth of her baby girl Sofia Alaya.

“Three weeks ago at this time I was finishing up my makeup and getting ready for my princess to make her appearance,” she captioned one of the photos. “Yes, I was doing my makeup while I was in labour! I was pausing during contractions and picking up where I left off once the contractions passed. I only packed some of my favourite products in my hospital bag…”

A makeup artist to the very end, those ‘essentials’ happened to be a contour kit, false lashes, foundation, brow pomade, eyeshadow (have you seen the size of that palette?!) liquid lippies and velour liquid lipsticks (we’re not sure of the distinction tbh).

And while for us, applying make-up during labour is something that we probably wouldn’t even consider, if it makes this pretty mum feel happy, we’re all for it.
