Just devastating.

Our hearts are broken by the mass shooting that took place in Pulse night club in Orlando on Sunday June 12. Over fifty precious lives were cut short needlessly, pointlessly, with many more injured or critically ill.

It’s so hard for us to make sense that a human could do something so wrong, so evil, so illogically-motivated – but despite the horror, we were heartened to see the world join together in mutual grief to say, “Love wins”.

Because we believe that there are many more good people in this world than bad, and so love will always win. Hope will always prevail.

Showing the real life, human face of these victims behind the statistics, JK Rowling issued a tribute to one of the young people killed, who worked at the Harry Potter theme park in Orlando.

He was just 22.

“Luis Vielma worked on the Harry Potter ride at Universal,” she wrote in a heartbreaking tweet, “He was 22 years old. I can't stop crying. #Orlando

Luis worked as a production assistant on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride at Universal Orlando.

Devastated by the loss, Universal shut down the ride as a sign of mourning, posting a heartfelt tribute about the young man:

“One of the victims was Luis S Vielma,” it read. “He worked at Forbidden Journey. He was a Gryffindor. He was a kid. He was a human being that died just for being him. Universal shut down the ride as a sign of mourning to those who worked with him. He will be missed by many and, along with everyone else, the HP fandom will mourn his passing. Rest In Love, sweet wizard.”

Rest In Love Luis.
