I want a girl: Danielle Lloyd responds to criticism over gender selection decision

Danielle Lloyd has opened up about her decision to choose the gender of her next child. The mum admitted she has always wanted a baby girl and feels like there is nothing wrong with seeking treatment that will help her have a daughter.

She spoke to Metro about her decision. “‘It’s always something I’ve wanted to do, I want a little girl; how long can I continue to have boys?”

The mum said she wanted to opt for gender selection earlier in the year. Her confession was met with a wave of controversy: “I thought maybe I should have just kept my mouth shut. For me, I don’t see the ethical reasons [against it].”

Danielle explained that the reason she has chose gender selection is for family balance. “I get women messaging me saying, 'I can’t even have one child, you’re so ungrateful'. ‘I’m not ungrateful, I love my boys; they want a girl as much as me. They’ll say, 'Is our sister in your belly yet?’”

The mum-of-four previously told OK! Magazine that this is something she needs to do: "I would regret it if I got to 50 and didn’t have a daughter, and I don’t want to have any regrets, so I’m going to do it."

There is no guarantee that the gender selection will work but Danielle said she has accepted that. "If I can’t conceive with a little girl and it doesn’t happen then I truly believe what God wanted for me and that’s the way it’s meant to be.”
