Actors Sarah Parish and James Murray have appealed for help in their campaign to honour their late daughter and assist those living in need.
The couple appeared on ITV’s This Morning today, to discuss a fundraising project for the building of a new facility to treat patients with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RTS).
The cause is particularly close to Sarah and James’ hearts, as they lost their daughter Ella-Jayne to the condition - which can cause physical and intellectual disabilities - seven years ago.
Little Ella-Jayne was just eight months old when she passed away in her cot.
Sarah and James went on to set up the Murray Parish Trust in their daughter’s honour, to support those living with RTS.
The couple are now hoping to raise £2million for the building of a new medical facility, to be based in Southampton. A further £2million has already been pledged by the Government.
Insisting that they want to ‘give back’, Sarah told This Morning hosts Holly and Phil: “Every time we raise money, every time we do something that makes a difference…it makes Ella-Jayne’s pain and our pain worth it.”
Needless to say, the response from viewers was overwhelmingly positive.
Sarah, who is also mum to six-year-old Nell, went on to tweet: “Thanks so much for all your lovely tweets today. Now, has anyone got a spare £2million I can have?!”
