We all love looking at adorable baby photos, but there is something so special about an image of a rainbow baby; it symbolises a love and a hope that is so unique and powerful. Alicia Caldwell’s story lives up to that very description.
A stunning photo of Alicia’s rainbow baby, Saylor, has touched hearts all over the internet this week.
Alicia was already a mum to daughter Scarlett when she decided to expand her family. However, after two miscarriages, she was left scared and worried for the future. Nevertheless, she wanted to try again.
In an interview with Parents.com, she explained: “I told my husband it was going to be our last try. That I couldn’t emotionally handle losing another child. However, I wanted another child desperately.”
In an admission that so many other parents will be able to relate to, Alicia said could never allow herself the luxury of being excited over her pregnancy – she was just too anxious of what potentially lay ahead.
“I was just waiting for something to go wrong pretty much up until the day I gave birth,” she added.
Thankfully, however, baby Saylor entered the world safe and sound, bringing the bright rainbow after the torrential rain of the previous years.
Naturally, Alicia wanted to mark Saylor’s birth in a very special way, and she called on the services of maternity photographer Michele Fetherolf to hold a rainbow-inspired maternity photo shoot.
Describing baby Saylor as ‘her beauty in the midst of the darkness and clouds’, Alicia said: “It’s a bittersweet combination of personal pain and joy.
“Every time I look at the photo, it reminds me of how truly blessed I am, and how all the pain I endured was worth it,” she said.
And doesn’t that incredible photo just radiate with colour and happiness? It’s no wonder it has proven incredibly popular on Michele’s Instagram page.
“I love this! I have a rainbow baby who’s now two. Would have loved this shot of her,” wrote one fan of Michele’s.
