A big-hearted mum of two is urging people to spread kindness this Christmas with a ‘knock and run’ present doorstep challenge.
How does it work? Well simply choose a person (you don’t have to know them well) you think needs an extra special gesture this Christmas, pop a gift on their doorstep with an anonymous note telling them why you were thinking of them – and then knock and leg it!
Caroline Macrory from London started the challenge last Christmas, inspired by the women she worked with as a project worker for a domestic violence charity.
“I had the idea last year and did it for the first time then, “she told the Daily Mail. “With my job I come across a lot of women in difficult situations, and a lot of single parents. Christmas can be a really difficult time for them, but I'm not able to give them gifts because I have a professional relationship with them.
“I decided I still wanted to do something nice though. It's a way to counteract all the horrible things in the world at the moment. I wanted to bring a bit of magic and positivity back at Christmas, and lift someone's spirits. For people who are struggling, it can be the hardest time of the year, especially when there is no family around.”
She then decided to post the challenge online to encourage others to get involved. So far a staggering 50,000 people have shared it.

This year Caroline chose a woman she knew through the domestic violence charity and left a gift and a note saying, “'Have an amazing Christmas, from someone who thinks you are doing a brilliant job”.
“Those little things can change your perspective on how the world works,” she told the Daily Mail. “It can brighten someone's day. I did it for that reason, but decided to post it online in case anyone else wanted to do it too.”
What a simple yet hugely effective way to brighten someone’s Christmas!
