There are so many things children will learn as they grow up. In the early days, they’ll learn how to tie their shoes and how to spell their name.
When they reach secondary school, they will delve into more serious subjects like history and biology. They will also learn a very practical skill- how to speak another language.
A recent study has found that there are three languages that children should learn to help improve their future. The researchers shared that children should learn Mandarin, French and German.
They stated that there are many benefits to learning a new language, but many children are failing to do so.
Over 2,000 parents took part in the study, with 45 percent of them revealing that their kids can’t speak a second language at a basic level.
The experts believe that learning basic phrases in the three languages would help boost opportunities, especially when it comes to job opportunities.
Even though nearly half the parents stated that their children couldn’t speak a second language, 85 percent of the participants believed that learning a second language was important in improving their children’s future.
Many children don’t start studying a second language until they enter secondary school, however, the experts suggested that the earlier they learn the better.
Antonella Sorace, who is a Professor of Developmental Linguistics at Edinburgh University, stated, “Many more doors are opened to people who learn a second language as children.”
“Children who are exposed to different languages become more aware of different cultures, other people and other points of view,” she added.
