There was a scare today at the Leighton Hospital in Crewe after a staff member raised concerns that a newborn was missing.
The hospital was immediately put on lockdown and police were called investigate.

Shortly after, staff realised a mistake had been made as all babies were accounted for.
A spokesman for Leighton Hospital said:
“A member of staff raised concerns after thinking a baby was missing from the labour ward this afternoon.
“Cheshire Police attended and put the hospital on lockdown until the situation was resolved."
Leighton hospital is still open as usual and there is nothing for the public to be concerned about.

“Thankfully no baby had been taken and all newborns are accounted for.”
Reassuring the public, he added:
“The lockdown has been lifted and the hospital is beginning to return to normal.”
