An inspirational mum battling colon cancer is refusing to allow it to stop her love of life. Instead, she’s channelling her experience to make others smile by creating BRILLIANT movie scene recreations at her chemo sessions.

Mum-of-two and Broadway actress Karen Walsh was diagnosed with the disease in September, and encouraged by her friends she began to share her journey on Instagram, at first uploading simple selfies at her chemo sessions.

But clearly Karen has some amazing friends, because they decided to go one up, helping her recreate iconic scenes from movies and telly at her sessions in the hospital, ones like The Breakfast Club and Forrest Gump.

“I don’t really have time to think about the actual reason I’m there and the time passes much more quickly, Karen told POPSUGAR.

And not only is it a novel way to make the chemo experience less scary and traumatic, there’s also another bonus.

“I get to spend time with my friends that I may not have seen for a while,” Karen says.

Karen’s doctor is a big fan of the photos too, and thinks they are inspirational for others going through illness.

“He sees it as a way to for others to navigate their own coping,” Karen told POPSUGAR. “He sees the photos as a way to remind people that they aren’t alone, we can keep moving forward, we can keep having fun, and most importantly that we can keep living our lives.”
