Maternity underwear is a form of clothing that you will buy when pregnant. Offering you support, comfort and usability, you can choose various styles to suit their needs. While it might seem like an unnecessary investment when you are only pregnant for such a short time, most will take you right through to after delivery and if you decide to breastfeed. However, with so many styles available it can be hard to figure out what you actually need.

The following is a list of the common types available in most stores:

Padded nursing bra
If you are looking for a bra that offers support and comfort this is the style you should go for.  Not only will it make feeding easier, it will also give you a much-needed lift and is ideal for women of varying sizes, including very large breasts.

Maternity bump band
A great piece for under your clothing, a bump band will mean you can wear your pre-pregnancy clothing for a little longer. It sits comfortably under your clothes and even works as an extra layer during the winter.

Seamless bra
Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you have to give up your own sense of style. A seamless nursing bra is ideal for when you want to wear clothing with a jersey material as it won’t show up.

Underwire nursing bra
For mums who are after some added support, a nursing bra with an underwire might be their best option.  They help to lift and maintain the breast shape and still work as a functioning nursing bra.

Lace nursing bra
A maternity lace bra can make you feel sexy throughout your pregnancy and still be functioning. The lace can be located around the top or bottom of the bra and won’t get in the way of feeding. A fancy bra can be a great addition to your maternity wardrobe  which can usually be a mix of plain white bras.

Support pants
Support pants help you to stay comfortable throughout your three trimesters - they work just like a pair of knickers and a pregnancy band in one. Available in stretchy material, it will grow with your bump.
