Christine Gilbert and husband Drew left Boston back in 2008. Incredibly, they haven't returned since!
Eager to escape big city life in America, they set off to see the world, beginning in Spain, later backpacking through Mexico and Central America. The former corporate manager decided to leave her job to become a travelling writer and photographer.
Meanwhile, hubby Drew was a home-based graphic designer so he could follow in her footsteps, no problem.
Footloose and fancy-free, the pair had the time of their lives. But when they found out that Christine was pregnant with their first child, they weren't ready to hang up their backpacks just yet.
So they when to Oregon, where Christine had baby Cole - and once she'd recovered, they were back on the road with baby on-board this time.
Now, eight years on, they have a base in Oaxaca, Mexico, where Cole (6) and Stella (3) go to bilingual school.
And despite being pregnant yet again, Christine said they're still moving around.
To date, they've been to over 40 countries, including Belgium, Bermuda, Cambodia, Cuba, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and the UAE.
While they're enjoying their travels as much as they did at the beginning, Christine admits that it's harder with kids in tow.
But they're plowing on.
Their next trip is a camping and canoeing affair through British Columbia in the summer. Then, once baby number three is born in Mexico in September, they'll go and live on a boat for a bit.
"We are still travelling but we take it a little slower now that the kids are older and I'm pregnant with number three," Christine told the Daily Mail.
"We'll be camping/canoeing through British Colombia this summer and after baby number three comes we're planning living on a sailboat for a bit. But I'll be back here (Oaxaca) in Sept to have the baby."
Christine said raising a child 'on the road' was not easy but she said it was 'worth it'.
"It wasn't easy or romantic to raise a son on the road," she said. "He lived his first year largely in the arms of someone, and the absence of baby-proofed spaces and the constant travel meant we lived in a state of constant vigilance - whether we were on a bus or waiting in line at a visa office."
"So much of our parenting became figuring out ways to entertain him for hours while carrying all our stuff and waiting somewhere."
So far, they have done a huge amount en route around the world. They've been to the Holi festival in India, gone island-hopping in Greece, and soaked up the hustle and bustle of city life in Barcelona, Morocco and Paris.
Amazingly, Christine said they've actually saved money, despite all they've seen and done.
"As someone who grew up on food stamps, giving my child this kind of education felt priceless," she said.
"It cost us about a third as much to travel as it did to live in the US because of the strength of the US dollar and lower cost of living in many of the places we travelled, so the pressure to earn, earn, earn that we felt back home had been lifted completely."
But they haven't forgotten about money completely.
They even filmed a documentary about people who left their jobs to work online while travelling and managed to raise $10,000 to buy the equipment needed to make it into a feature film.
When Drew lost his job she writes on her blog that they 'panicked' but it resolved itself and they started working on their own creative projects.
They raised $37,000 on Kickstarter to take their documentary on a tour and had a second baby. They then cycled around Europe with the children.
As well as launching a magazine, Christine also wrote a book about their travelling child-raising experience, Mother Tongue: My Family's Globe-Trotting Quest to Dream in Mandarin, Laugh in Arabic, and Sing in Spanish, set to be published next month.
In 2014 they temporarily settled in Barcelona, Spain, but soon became restless and started travelling again.
They are now in Mexico where they are filming a food documentary series. Ooh la la!
We don't know about you, but we're feeling pretty damn sedentary right now!
