Stretch marks are something every woman can and will get, at any time.

They are completely common, and a regular occurrence - particularly as our bodies grow and change.

But until you become pregnant, stretch marks may not have even been on your radar (if this has been the case, lucky you).

Having a baby can take its toll on your body; nausea, aches and pains, hormonal changes, swollen hands, feet (swollen everything, basically) and stretch marks are only some of the ways you'll find yourself transforming - and maybe you'd like to help the process along. Yes, it's all worth it to have a healthy baby at the end, but some may not be thrilled with such changes.

Happily, there are at least some things you can do in regards to the stretch marks, and mum-of-two and model Miranda Kerr has shared her tips for keeping them at bay.  Though she stressed that she didn’t put too much emphasis on how she looked while pregnant with her son, Flynn. “I remember being very calm about my body,” she said. “I was just so excited to be having Flynn.”

She did, however, tell W Magazine that using body oil during her pregnancy helped mitigate the effects of stretch marks.

“I also used Noni Glow Body Oil throughout my pregnancy, and I didn’t get one stretch mark, even though I had a 10-pound baby.” Yes, this particular body oil Kerr used is part of her KORA Organics beauty line, so it's natural that she would mention it, but the brand name is less important. What is important is to use an oil to help moisturise and heal stressed-out skin.

In particular, here at MummyPages, we love the Tara Anderson-recommended Trilogy products, their Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, €22.95 and Pure Plant Body Oil, €19.95. Applied to skin daily, they sooth and calms skin, helping alleviate stretch marks.

But what exactly are stretch marks?

Well, they aren’t just visible marks on the body — they can also be painful being essentially small tears in the skin that occur as your belly rapidly expands to accommodate a tiny human.

Kerr also revealed other elements of her routine to combat her stretch marks, which included, towelling yourself try after showering followed with using a dry body brush after each shower using the towel to remove any skin remaining after brushing. Giving your bump a massage nightly can also to restore your skin.
