A mum-to-be has taken to BabyBumps to vent her frustration about her own mother.

The expectant mum is far from on board with her mum's insistence on having nick-names for her daughter's pregnancy.

When the grandma-to-be tried to use 'preggers' to affectionately grab her daughter's attention, the mum-to-be was just not on board, informing us: "I kind of lost my shit."

Mom tried to nickname me "Preggers" [rant] from BabyBumps

"I view my pregnancy as a temporary state, not my entire identity. It just really rubs me the wrong way."

Mum-to-be is hoping she doesn't sound crazy not wanting to be referred to as preggers but she has a whole host of users who completely agree with her as she states:

"She seems hurt that I don't like being called stupid nicknames about my physical being and don't want to discuss the pregnancy 100 per cent of the time when we talk."

One commenter even revealed that her mum used to refer to her unborn baby as 'bean', wanting her grandchild to call her 'edamama' instead of grandma when they arrived into the world!

The thing is, all users are happy their parents are excited about their pregnancies, nonetheless, they just want the grandparents-to-be to tone it down a little.

Is this too much to ask? Or should we just get on with it, a nick-name doesn't hurt... or does it?
