It all started with a dress.

In 2014, photographer Camillia Courts bought her daughter Layla a dress from the Disneyland boutique, and wanted to take a photo of her while it was still in 'pristine condition'.

Her friends loved the photo so much that Camillia decided to turn dressing up with Layla, now aged seven, into a hobby.

Camillia explained that dressing up as Disney princesses and Star Wars characters has really boosted Layla's self-esteem.

“She’s a very shy child, and I see her light up when she gets into costume,” Camillia told HuffPost.

“She’s gained a lot of confidence since we started the project and has really come out of her shell.”

The mum and daughter work together to create amazing costumes, and Layla loves it when her mum gets dressed up.

"Every once in a while I like to get in on the fun, and I think being the villain is way more fun than wearing the crown,” Camillia said.

Camillia now has 36K Instagram followers who love seeing the mum's latest creations.
