Whether it was when you were dropping your child to school or out grocery shopping on a Saturday, it’s rare that mums will be in the comfort of their homes surrounded by family when labour starts!

We asked MummyPages mums to share where exactly they were when they went into labour, and this is what they said:

1. Symone Burke: "I was in bed on my daughter and on the way to bingo with my son."

2. Karen Barry: "On my first child, I was in the supermarket shopping and I had to abandon my groceries. On my second child, I was in bed nice and snug."

3. Rachel McNamee: "In my sister's house for dinner and a DVD when I went into labour on my first. I was at home in bed when I went into labour on my second."

4. Shellie Hutton: "My waters broke at home the morning of my birthday, my little boy now shares the same birthday as me!"

5. Amy Jane: "I was in my local chemist and my waters broke all over the floor!"

6. Nicola Mulcahy: "On my first, I was in lifestyle getting Christmas clothes when my waters broke; I was collecting my daughter from school on my second."

7. Kirstie Bain: "In work. I'd gone on maternity leave but popped in to drop some cakes off. The last person I saw said: "That baby's taking its time", and as soon as she did..... IT STARTED!!! I quickly said my goodbyes and got home! He was born just four hours later."

8. Angela Dyer Fuller: "First was at home, second was at a McDonald's drive thru with my eight-year-old son. I drove straight home as soon as I realised!"

9. Saffron Haylett: "In bed at 5am. I woke up my boyfriend with the words, "it started", and he jumped up on all fours on the bed said: "Ill go do the washing up" - I'lll never forget it!"

10. Aoife Keegan Twomey: "At home in bed at 5am Christmas morning"
