Some babies are too comfy in their mummy’s tummy that they don’t want to leave. So, when your due date has come and gone, rather than get frustrated, try these natural ways to help baby along.

Curry
A bowl of hot, spicy curry might be enough to spur baby into movement. Apparently, the spice can stimulate your uterus into action, so get eating.

Pineapple
If you love pineapple, you’ll really love this natural way to induce labour. The sweet fruit contains bromelain, which can soften your cervix enough to start labour. However, and here’s where your love of pineapples comes into it, you will need to eat nearly 10 pineapples.

Walking
When you are walking, your baby’s head is pressed against your cervix, which may release oxytocin, a hormone that starts contractions. Go for a gentle walk every night, if possible.

Having sex
Sex is another way to help release oxytocin and an orgasm may get your uterus to start labour.

Dancing
Just like walking, dancing can get your baby’s head to move down into your pelvis, thus stimulating labour. Don’t go too wild, the last thing you want are dislocated bones.

Raspberry tea
This tea helps strengthen uterine contractions and increase contractility. And even if it doesn’t stimulate labour, you deserve a sit down with a nice brew.

Evening primrose oil
This can help thin your cervix and dilate it for labour. It's not safe for women who have a placenta previa to take it and always talk to your doctor before taking any herbs.

Acupressure
Acupressure is used to induce labour, by applying pressure to specific points on the body to stimulate the uterus. You will need to go to a qualified therapist to get this done, but it could be worth it when you finally have your baby in your arms.

Nipple stimulation
Massaging and twisting your nipples can also help to release oxytocin, which brings on contractions.

Body massage
You are no doubt uncomfortable and stressed. To ease the pressure book yourself in for a massage and you might help get baby moving.
