A family in Gorleston, England have told locals to beware of a real-life Christmas Grinch who has been robbing homes of their festive displays.

Lisa and Daniel Whitehead issued the warning after their entire Christmas lights and decoration display was stolen, including a 7ft inflatable Santa.

The selfish act comes at a difficult time for the family, who recently moved to a new house in order to help their 12-year-old son Matthew, who suffers from ADHD. A family member was also recently made redundant, adding to the stress of the situation.

Having noticed similar thefts in the area, Lisa has gone public with her story in an effort to get her decorations back and to warn other families.

Lisa spoke this week of her distress over the theft: “It is supposed to be a happy time for celebration and it just makes me so angry. I know times are tough and people are struggling. We have been through tough times too, but to do something like this when they know it is for children is just low."

She has now appealed to the thieves to return the decorations in time for Christmas.
