A few days ago, Natalie Poole was shocked to go into labour when she was at home.

Fortunately, she wasn’t at home alone. She had her little girl Harper with her. And while you might not think that a two-year-old would be much use during labour, you’d be wrong.

Little Harper was cool, calm and collected throughout the entire birth, ensuring her mum had warm towels at hand. She even held up the phone so that her mum could speak to the hospital.

“It happened really quickly. I rang the hospital and managed to get myself into the bath, but I needed Harper to hold the phone to my ear,” Natalie told Metro. “She was just so calm, and didn’t panic at all.”

Natalie ended up having a home birth, with just Harper by her side. Incredibly, Harper was completely chilled about the whole thing as she watched her baby sister Poppy come into the world.

“Harper stayed with me through it all, and watched the baby come out,” Natalie said. “She said to me afterwards: ‘I saw the baby pop out mum.’ None of it phased her.”

Touchingly, Natalie believes that the experience has brought Harper and little Poppy closer together.

“Harper won’t leave Poppy’s side,” she said. “They have a special bond already.”
