With just over a week until US president-elect Donald Trump is sworn in to the Oval Office, the world is taking its time in saying goodbye to President Barack Obama and America's popular First Family.
Not only have the people of the world watched on during this historic period of leadership, there is also the feeling that this was the first time we were really invited into the lives of a United States president and his (oh-so) fab family.
Sure they may not have agreed with all of his policies, but certainly the global public has grown to respect Barack, worship Michelle and feel some sense of pride about the women Malia and Sasha Obama have grown into.
Yes, with the eyes of the world upon them since they were 11 and eight, the first daughters have always received nothing but praise for the way they handled their sudden fame.
No more so than from their extremely proud father who again this week took time to gushingly praise his children.
Speaking about making the decision to run for the presidency, Barack and Michelle have always been open about their fear of the girls remaining respectful and appreciative.
“We worried mostly about whether they’d develop an attitude,” Obama told ABC News.
“All I can say is that they have turned out to be a terrific young woman.
“They are sweet, kind, funny, smart, respectful people, and they treat everybody with respect. You know, we feel pretty good when they go to other folks’ houses and when the parents say ‘Oh you know, Malia, she’s just so sweet’ or ‘Sasha helped me with the dishes’.”
But Barack was quick to admit that the credit shouldn’t go entirely to him as he did what he does best: praising his wife of 25 years
“They’re handled it with grace and I give Michelle most of the credit for how well they’ve done.”
