So many frightening stories of abductions and attempted abductions have been doing the rounds lately, and this latest one is just as terrifying.

A 12-year-old girl in Manchester has reportedly fended off a would-be male attacker by punching him in the face.

The incident is reported to have occurred on March 25, in the Moss Lane area of the city, at around 4pm, with the girl having just passed Edinburgh Close when she was approached by the man.

The girl is said to have been grabbed by the arm by the man, but she managed to get away unharmed by punching him in the face and running.

Police have now released an e-fit of the suspect, and they are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 50s, with short, greying hair, a long face and a pointed nose. He is said to be of large build and 5ft 8in tall.

Investigating Detective Constable Dan Hayes praised the girl for her courage: “This young girl has been very brave and worked with our forensic imaging specialists to relive what she went through and produce an accurate image of what he looked like.”

Urging the public to study the image, he added: “There may well have been a lot of people in the area at the time of the incident who have potentially vital information, and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who recognise the man, to come forward.”
