Police are appealing to anyone with any information regarding a recent abduction attempt in Scunthorpe to come forward and help officials with their enquiries.

According to emerging reports, a heavily pregnant woman was approached by a man in a black saloon car at approximately 3am on Sunday.

The 41-year-old woman was making her way along Oswald Road in Scunthorpe when a driver slowed his vehicle and enquired into her wellbeing.

Assuring him she was fine, the woman continued to walk on, acutely aware the car was slowly following her.

It is understood that the driver of the vehicle suddenly got out and attempted to force the mum-to-be into his car.

Thankfully, the woman managed to free herself of his grasp and her attacker quickly fled the scene in the direction of Frodingham Road.

The man at the centre of this case is described as white, well built and aged between 30 and 35.

He was approximately six foot in height, had a shaved head, spoke in a local accent and wore a blue and white T-shirt.

The area within which the attack took place is populated by a number of pubs and bars so police are anxious for Saturday night revellers to come forward if they feel they can be of any assistance.

Our hearts go out to the woman at the centre of this shocking case.
