Police in Derbyshire have appealed to the public for help following a shocking, unprovoked attack on two 13-year-old boys on Tuesday December 8th.

Officials have, with the consent of the teens' parents, released CCTV footage of the unprovoked assault in an effort to identify the assailant.

The shocking footage captures a man punching one of the schoolboys and shoving him over nearby railings before chasing the second teen and kicking him to the ground.

Giving an insight into the shocking incident, Police Officer Steve Harper said: "The victims had stayed later at school completing extra work for their Duke of Edinburgh Award and were then walking through the River Gardens in order to get to the bus station and catch their bus home."

Police assert that they are eager to speak to the man, who can be seen wearing a grey tracksuit, in addition to two females in connection with incident which took place at 5.20pm in River Gardens.
