Police in London have issued a warning to people to be vigilant when answering their doors, after a woman was knocked out and tied up by two burglars posing as deliverymen.

According to a police statement, the woman – who is said to be in her forties – answered the door to the two men in her home in Feltham, South-West London, on Tuesday of this week.

The men were holding a parcel, with one dressed in a high-visibility vest and the other wearing a UPS jacket and cap.

They proceeded to knock the woman out, tie her up and threaten her with a gun, before burgling her home and making off with a ‘large quantity’ of cash.

Police have appealed for the public’s help in identifying and locating these men, and they also urged people to be vigilant if strangers come to their door.

“The suspects posed as if they were delivering a parcel to get the victim to open the door prior to attacking her…We would like to remind everyone to exercise appropriate caution when answering the door, especially if parcels are not expected,” a representative said.

If you are in any doubt, you are urged to ask for an ID before allowing anyone into your home.
