Police in the UK have today launched a public appeal, urging anyone with information relating to the assault of a mum on a London bus to come forward.

According to a statement on the Metropolitan Police’s official website, the 29-year-old woman – who was accompanied by her five-year-old son – got into a dispute over the placement of buggies on a Route 86 bus in Romford.

CCTV footage captured at around midday, on 16th June, shows two women coming on board the bus with a buggy each. They then sat down in the pram area of the vehicle.

The other mother – the victim of the assault – came onto the bus shortly after with her little boy, only to be ‘confronted’ by the women over the placement of their buggies.

The suspect in the assault is said to have become ‘angry and violent’ towards the mother. The victim was then ‘slapped across the face in front of her terrified son…causing a laceration to her upper lip’.

Police have today called for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, who is described as a slim black woman; in her late forties, 6ft in height, and with dark hair in a bun.

Anyone who may have witnessed the assault is asked to get in touch with the police on 101. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
